Finding the Perfect Hen Weekend House in the New Forest

Hen Party Invites | Wording, Templates and What to Include
October 22, 2026The short answer to what to wear to a hen party as a guest: follow the dress code if there is one, dress for the activities if there isn’t, never wear white unless you’re told to (that’s the bride’s), and bring shoes you can dance in, because at some point, you will be dancing. The long answer is more fun, because hen dress codes have entered their golden age, Blue Before I Do, Last Rodeo, Last Disco, and after watching 2,500+ hen parties get dressed over the last decade (usually moments before teaching them a dance routine in exactly those outfits), we can decode every one of them for you, starting with the theme that currently rules them all.
The Golden Rules (Whatever the Theme)
Rule one: the organiser’s word is law, if the group chat says pink, wear pink, the group photo is the whole point. Rule two: white belongs to the bride. Can you wear white to a hen do? Only if the dress code explicitly says so (some groups do all-white with the bride in colour, in which case, follow it), otherwise white cream and ivory are hers for the weekend. Rule three: dress for the itinerary, not just the evening, a vineyard walk in stilettos is a cautionary tale we’ve witnessed more than once. Rule four: when in doubt, ask the maid of honour, not the bride, she has enough on. And rule five, the one nobody says out loud: comfort wins, because hen days are twelve hours long and the best-dressed hen at midnight is the one still enjoying herself.
Last Rodeo (Start Here, Everyone Else Has)
The reigning champion of hen themes, and the most fun to dress for. The guest formula: denim base (jeans, skirt or dress), white or pink tee or a fringe top, cowboy boots if you own them, trainers if you don’t, nobody buys boots for one weekend, and the hat the organiser hands you at the door. The bride goes white hat, veil attached, everyone else in pink or black. Etsy’s cowboy hen party market covers the sashes, hat bands and Let’s Go Girls extras. And here’s the thing about this theme: the outfits are really a costume for an activity, because Last Rodeo almost always comes with dancing attached. Our line dancing hen parties are the number one of the ten themes we get booked for most, we come to your house or venue with the speaker, the music and the moves, the hats stay on for the whole routine, and the bride dances free. Watch the video below and you’ll see why the outfits and the activity were made for each other, boots optional, laughter guaranteed.
Our Top Trending Hen Party Dance Themes for 2027
Our most popular themes right now are Mamma Mia, Last Rodeo and Taylor Swift. Loads of our groups even go on to do the routine at the wedding!
Blue Before I Do
The prettiest theme of the moment: every hen in shades of blue, her “something blue” before the big day, with the bride in white to stand out. As a guest you have glorious range here, baby blue satin, navy midi, cornflower sundress, double denim if the group leans playful, and because everyone owns something blue, it’s the cheapest theme to nail. Add one unifying accessory (the organiser usually sorts these), and the group photo comes out looking professionally art-directed. If you want to elevate it: different shades of blue arranged loosely from light to dark either side of the bride is the photo trick stylists use.
Last Disco
The other big mood: sequins, shimmer and one last dance before the ring. Guest formula: one sparkly statement piece, sequin dress, glitter top or metallic skirt, never all three at once, over comfortable everything else, plus the disco ball necklace that’s everywhere this year and earns its place in every photo. The bride does white sequins or a silver moment; the group fills the glitterball spectrum around her. Feather boas appear at the organiser’s discretion and, in our experience, always by 9pm. If the group books a dance class to match, full ABBA or a disco routine to her favourite songs, sequins under movement is quite literally what these outfits were made for.
The Hen Party T-Shirt (Styled, Not Suffered)
Personalised tees are back, ironically at first, then genuinely, and the styling makes all the difference. What to wear with a hen do t-shirt: tucked into a denim skirt or mom jeans with white trainers for the day, knotted over a slip skirt with heeled boots if it’s staying on into the evening, and layered under a blazer for the hen who wants the team spirit without the full look. Organiser tips from a decade of seeing these: order a size range not one-size, put first names not in-jokes on the back (the in-joke stops being funny by Sunday), and boohoo’s hen party range covers ready-made tees and matching sets at pocket-money prices if you’d rather not print your own.
Day to Night (and the Dancing Question)
Most hen days run brunch to bar, so build the outfit in layers: the theme look as the base, comfortable shoes for daytime, the heels in a tote for evening if you must, and one warm layer because British golden hour is a lie. And here’s the insider knowledge: ask the organiser whether an activity is booked before you finalise anything. If there’s a dance class on the itinerary, and there very often is, you’ll want to move freely and you’ll be glad of the trainers, every age and ability joins in, the routine is set to the bride’s favourite songs, and the finale performance is the part of the weekend your outfit will be photographed doing.
