Hen Party Houses Somerset: Stunning Stays Near Bath and Bristol
September 10, 2026Mr & Mrs is the hen party quiz where the groom answers questions about the couple in advance, secretly, and the bride has to guess what he said in front of the whole group. Points for matches, forfeits for misses, and the real entertainment lives in the gap between what she’s certain he said and what he actually said.
I’ve watched this game played at hens for a decade, brilliant versions and versions that died after question four, and the difference is never the questions alone. It’s the running order, the reveal, and knowing which questions to leave out. So this isn’t just a list. It’s the whole playbook: 70 Mr and Mrs questions for hen do glory, structured the way a good host actually runs them, plus scoring, forfeits, and the upgrade that turns the quiz into the highlight of the weekend.
How to Play Mr and Mrs at a Hen Do (Properly)
One message to the groom, a week or two out, with your chosen questions. His answers come back to YOU, not the group chat, written down or (much better) filmed. On the day: bride centre stage, drink in hand, she commits to her guess out loud BEFORE the reveal. That order matters, the commit-then-reveal beat is where every laugh comes from.
Pick around 20 questions from the rounds below, don’t run all 70, a great quiz ends while the room still wants more. And use points rather than the old sip-if-wrong rule as your default: a pregnant bridesmaid, a driving mum or an 11am garden hen plays the points version just as hard. Scoring bands for the finale: 0 to 7 matches, “the honeymoon phase is carrying you”; 8 to 14, “solid, the wedding may proceed”; 15+, “disgustingly in love, please stand for applause”.
The Warm-Up Round: Quick-Fire “Who...?”
Open here, ten seconds a question, no explanations allowed, it gets the shy hens shouting answers within minutes:
- Who said “I love you” first?
- Who is the better cook?
- Who is the better dancer? (Flag this one, it comes back later.)
- Who deals with the spider?
- Who takes longer to get ready?
- Who is the better driver, according to HIM?
- Who steals the duvet?
- Who is the bigger baby when ill?
- Who wins the arguments?
- Who is more likely to get arrested, and for what?
- Who cried first in the relationship?
- Who checks their phone more?
- Who is the clumsiest?
- Who would survive longest in a horror film?
- Who loves the dog more? (Careful. This one ends engagements.)
- Who forgets the birthdays?
- Who is more likely to sing in the shower?
- Who wastes more money, and on what?
- Who is the party animal?
- Who would get picked as star pupil at a dance class?
The Story Rounds: Where the Gold Lives
Quick-fire warms the room, but story questions win the night, because every answer drags a memory out with it. Sweet first:
- Where was your first kiss?
- What was she wearing when you first met?
- What did he text his best friend after your first date?
- When did he know she was the one?
- What is her go-to karaoke song?
- What would she save first in a fire, after people and pets?
- What is the most romantic thing he has ever done, in HIS opinion?
- What pet name does he use when she is not around?
- What three words would he use to describe her?
- Which of her friends did he try hardest to impress?
Then tip it into chaos:
- What is her most annoying habit, according to him?
- What is the worst present she has ever given him?
- What food could she not survive without?
- What does she do in her sleep that he has never told her?
- What is the one thing of his she keeps trying to throw away?
- How many minutes late is she, on average, to everything?
- Whose family is more chaotic at Christmas?
- What show did she make him watch that he secretly loved?
- What is his most-used excuse for getting out of plans?
- If they starred in a reality show, what would it be called?
- What smell does she love that he cannot stand?
- What would he say her superpower is? And her kryptonite?
After the Mums Go to Bed
Cheeky works when it’s warm rather than crude, the test is whether the bride laughs hardest. Pre-sort your cards into an “everyone” pile and this one:
- What was his honest first impression of her?
- Who made the first move, according to him?
- Where is the most unusual place you have kissed?
- What is his celebrity hall pass, and does she know about it?
- How many dates before it was official?
- What habit of hers would he pay money to change?
- Who is the boss? His answer first, then hers.
- What is the one thing he hopes she never finds out he told his mates?
The Wedding Round and the Rapid-Fire Finale
- What part of the wedding is he most nervous about?
- How many kids does he want, and do their numbers match?
- Where does he think they will be living in ten years?
- What song does he secretly want for the first dance?
- What will their first argument as a married couple be about?
- What is he most looking forward to about married life?
Close with six rapid-fire facts, her shoe size, her coffee order, her mum’s first name, the engagement date, her dream holiday, her childhood pet’s name. He will get at least two wrong. It is always, somehow, the shoe size.
The Five That Get the Biggest Reactions (From Real Hens)
If you only steal five from this whole page, a decade of eavesdropping says take these: her most annoying habit according to him (the groom’s nervous phrasing is the entertainment), what she does in her sleep, the three words he’d use to describe her (this is the crying one), who is the better dancer (the debate outlives the game), and what he texted his best friend after the first date, which is the single most reliable room-explosion we have ever witnessed.
The Questions to Skip
Nobody else will tell you this bit. Leave out anything touching exes, weight, appearance, money struggles or family feuds, and anything the bride would need to explain to her nan at the wedding. The Mr and Mrs game’s job is making the couple look adorable while everyone screams, not producing a silence the prosecco can’t fix. If in doubt, run it past the chief bridesmaid, she knows where the landmines are.
The Upgrade: Make It a Screening
The single biggest improvement: the groom films his answers instead of writing them. His face while admitting her most annoying habit, the pauses, the panic, it turns the Mr and Mrs quiz into cinema. Best man films it so the answers stay secret, clips under 20 seconds, played on a laptop after the bride locks in each guess. We have seen entire rooms on the floor at a groom’s answer to “who is the better dancer”.
Forfeits and the Finale
Keep miss-forfeits quick and kind: a sip, a solo dance move, a sweet confiscated from her prize pot. And that flagged better-dancer question deserves a proper verdict: if there’s a dance class booked for the weekend, “bride performs the chorus solo” becomes the running joke that pays off in front of everyone, and the question finally gets settled with evidence. For the game itself, Etsy’s Mr and Mrs question cards come professionally printed with blanks for your own picks, or type your favourites from this page into cards at home, twenty minutes and a free printable job.
