2026 Hen Party Themes Everyone Will Love
March 21, 2026Planning a hen party with a mixed age group? This is quite common for hen parties. The bride's got her best mates, her mum, maybe an auntie or two, and maybe even a Grandma. You need something that everyone will love, no matter what age.
At Sashay Dance we've delivered over 2,150 hen parties and most of them have been mixed age groups. We're talking Grandmas, mums, teenagers, and everyone in between all in the same room. We know what works and what keeps every single person smiling. Here are our favourite hen party ideas for mixed ages that actually work for everyone.
A Personalised Hen Party Dance Class
A dance class is the one activity we'd recommend above everything else for a mixed age hen party. It gets everyone up and involved from the first song, and it doesn't matter if half the group haven't danced in years. Our classes are completely 2 left feet friendly and we've had everyone from 16 year olds to 80 year olds having the time of their lives!
And here's the bit that makes it perfect for mixed ages. You pick any 2-3 songs and we create a completely custom song mix and choreography just for your group. Any era, any genre, any artist. So if the bride loves Beyonce but her mum's more of an ABBA girl and Grandma wants a bit of Dolly Parton, we mix them all together into one routine. Everyone hears something they love, everyone's dancing, and everyone's laughing!
That's what makes it different from just picking one theme. You're not asking nan to dance to WAP or the 21 year olds to pretend they know the words to Dancing Queen. Everyone gets a moment that's theirs, and the whole group comes together for it.
We come to you anywhere in the UK, whether that's your accommodation, a hired space, or your own back garden. It's 90 minutes packed with laughs, music, and memories. The bride dances free and with 18+ people the organiser goes free too. Don't worry if you're still finalising numbers, you can adjust your group size up to one month before. We'll sort the rest!

Afternoon Tea
Afternoon tea is one of those older hen party ideas that works for literally every age. It's classy, it's relaxed, and everyone from the bride's teenage cousin to her nan will enjoy it. You can book a proper afternoon tea at a hotel or restaurant, or set one up at your accommodation with finger sandwiches, scones, and mini cakes on a tiered stand.
It works really well as the activity after a dance class. Everyone's buzzing from the dancing, you sit down together, have a catch up over some scones and prosecco, and it gives the group time to properly chat. A lot of the best hen party moments happen when everyone's just sat around talking.
Cocktail and Mocktail Making
A cocktail class is a crowd pleaser for mixed ages, especially if you include mocktails too. It means younger guests and anyone who doesn't drink can still get involved without feeling left out. You can book a mobile bartender who comes to you, or go DIY with a cocktail station and printed recipe cards.
Espresso martinis and mojitos are always popular, and adding a couple of mocktail options means the whole group is included. It's a fun, social activity that works whether you're 18 or 68.
Mr and Mrs Quiz and Hen Party Games
Games are the great equaliser at a mixed age hen party. A Mr and Mrs quiz is always a winner because it's about the couple, not about age. Message the partner beforehand, get their answers, and watch the bride try to guess them. It always ends in fits of laughter no matter how old you are.
Other games that work well for all ages include how well do you know the bride, hen party bingo, two truths and a lie, and guess the age (photos of the bride from different ages and everyone guesses how old she was). Keep it light, keep it fun, and avoid anything that might make the bride's mum want to leave the room.
Best hen party games for mixed ages:
- Mr and Mrs Quiz: always gets everyone laughing
- How Well Do You Know the Bride: great icebreaker for guests who don't know each other
- Hen Party Bingo: play throughout the day, suitable for all
- Guess the Age: photos of the bride from different years
- Two Truths and a Lie: simple and always throws up surprises
- Pass the Parcel with questions and mini gifts (not dares)
Pamper Session
A pamper session is one of the best older hen party ideas because it's something every age group can enjoy. Set up face mask stations, get some nail polishes out, light some candles, and put on some relaxing music. You can buy sheet masks in bulk for a couple of pounds each and it feels really indulgent.
If you've got the budget, you can book mobile beauty therapists who come to you and do mini treatments like hand massages, facials, or nails. It's a lovely way to relax together and it suits every age perfectly!
Craft Activities
A craft activity gives everyone something to focus on together and something to take home as a keepsake. Flower crown making, wreath making, candle making, or pottery painting all work really well for mixed ages. You can find kits on Etsy and Amazon that come with everything you need for the whole group.
It's one of those activities where everyone can chat while they're making something, and the older guests often really enjoy it. Plus there's no pressure, no competition, and no one needs to be good at it.
Private Dining or Cooking Class
A nice meal together is something that works for every age group. You could book a private dining room at a restaurant, hire a private chef who comes to you, or do a cooking class together. Food brings people together and it's a hen do idea for all ages that no one's going to say no to.
If you're on a budget, a homemade grazing board or a cheese and wine evening works just as well and feels really special with a bit of effort on the presentation.
Tips for Planning a Hen Party for Mixed Ages
Planning a hen party for a mixed age group takes a bit of extra thought, but it doesn't need to be stressful. Here are our top tips from hosting over 2,150 hen parties.
Planning tips for a mixed age hen party:
- Pick activities where everyone can join in, not just watch
- Avoid anything too wild if the bride's mum or nan is there
- Include non-alcoholic options so younger guests and non-drinkers feel included
- A personalised dance class with a custom song mix means every generation hears something they love
- Mix high energy activities with relaxed ones so there's something for everyone
- Let the group know the plan in advance so no one turns up in heels when they need trainers
- Don't try to do too much, two or three activities is plenty
The best mixed age hen parties we've seen are the ones where the organiser picks one or two activities that bring everyone together and then lets the rest of the day happen naturally. A dance class followed by afternoon tea or a nice meal is a perfect combination.
