Outdoor Activities for Hen Parties – Your Guide to the Perfect Garden Hen Party
November 10, 2025The theme is one of the main ingredients of the hen do. At Sashay Dance we specialise in fun themed hen parties, and after running over 2,150 of them across the UK we have shared our top hen party theme ideas, so you can pick the perfect one for your hen do.
Whether you are the maid of honour who has been planning since the proposal, part of team bridesmaid collaboratively organising or the bride to be looking for ideas, you are in the right place. We have seen what works, know what's trending and we hope this will help you plan a hen party everyone will love. Here are 35 of the best hen party themes for 2026, grouped by vibe so you can skip straight to what suits your group.
Our top tip after 2,150+ hen parties: Start with one question. What does the bride genuinely love doing, watching or listening to? Start there, and everything else falls into place.
Our Most Popular Hen Party Themes
If we had to pick the best hen party themes from this entire list, it would be these. These are the new trending ones to the ones our hens are still talking about years later, where everyone gets involved, has the best time, and the group chat is still sharing videos from months down the line.
1. Hen Party Dance Class
A hen party dance class is where your whole group learns a routine together, led by one of our fun, friendly instructors. Think Line Dancing, Spice Girls, ABBA, or TikTok trends, depending on what the bride is into. We have over 25 themes to choose from and you can even upgrade to customise your own song mix, to make it personalised for your group.
We are biased obviously, but there is a reason dance classes have become one of the most booked hen party activities in the UK. They are a really inclusive activity that brings people together, perfect for hen parties when not everyone has met each other before and guaranteed laughs! Our classes are suitable for all whether you have 2 left feet or are a dancing queen.
Our classes are 90 minutes long, fitting perfectly into the itinerary. You can even perform the routine at the wedding, leaving memories way after the confetti has settled. We cover every corner of the UK and can either come to you or hire a venue. For more information check out our hen party dance class packages. The bride also goes free on all group sizes and maid of honour free on group sizes of 18+. Â
Our most popular dance party themes for 2026 are:

2. Mamma Mia Hen Party
A Mamma Mia hen party is one of our all-time favourites and honestly, it is easy to see why. If your bride loves ABBA (and let's be honest, who doesn't?) this theme just works. Think denim dungarees, blue and white decorations, Greek-island vibes, and an ABBA playlist on repeat all day long.
The best way to do it? Start with a Mamma Mia dance class where everyone is a dancing queen. Follow that with Greek food and cocktails in the sun and you're well on the way with the itinerary. Â
This is one of our most booked hen party packages and we can see why. Have a look at our full Mamma Mia hen party page here.
3. Last Rodeo Cowgirl Hen Party
Yeehaw, the bride is getting married and this is her One Last Rodeo! If you have been on TikTok or Instagram at all recently, you will know this theme has completely taken over, and honestly we can see why. Cowboy boots, denim, fringe jackets, personalised cowboy hats from Etsy, and a massive Last Rodeo banner across the wall. Everyone commits to the outfit and nobody feels silly, which is exactly what you want.
This works for a night out with line dancing (surprisingly fun as a group activity!), a country-themed weekend away, or even a daytime garden party with a saloon-style cocktail hour. Pair it with one of our line dancing hen party dance classes to properly kick things off and you have got yourself one of the most talked-about hen do themes of 2026. The outfits alone are worth it.
Â
4. Festival Hen
A festival hen party gives you all the Glastonbury energy without the 350 pound ticket or the questionable portaloos! Book a glamping site or just use someone's garden, string up fairy lights, set up a DIY cocktail bar, and tell everyone to come in their best festival outfit. Glitter, denim, cowboy boots, temporary tattoos, the lot.
You can level it up with a mobile bar or a DJ for the evening, but honestly a decent speaker and a good Spotify playlist is all you really need. The outfits alone make this one of the most photogenic hen do themes going.
5. Adventure Challenge Day
An adventure challenge hen is perfect if your group has mixed interests. You basically pack multiple activities into one day: a dance class in the morning, cocktail making with a mixologist in the afternoon, and an escape room in the evening. Everyone gets something they love, and it keeps the energy going all day.Â
6. Retro Sports Day
Egg and spoon race, three-legged race, tug of war, but styled up with matching colour-coded team vests and actual medals for the winners. It is hilarious, active without being exhausting, and works really well as an outdoor afternoon activity before heading out for dinner. Just watch the competitive ones in the group absolutely lose it over the sack race!
Classy & Elegant Hen Do Themes
These are for the bride who wants something sophisticated without it feeling try-hard. Elegant, photogenic, and perfect for groups who want to celebrate in style.
7. Bottomless Brunch Hen Party
A bottomless brunch hen party is one of the most popular choices we see and it is easy to understand why. It's a set price pp making it a lot easier to organise than dining out typically. There are so many bars and restaurants that offer this now, particularly on the weekends.  It works perfectly as a daytime celebration, we find many of our group do this before or after their dance class.
8. Spa and Wellness Retreat
Book a spa, set the dress code as white robes and sliders, and just let everyone relax together. You can add personalised eye masks, a group meditation session, or a DIY face mask station to make it feel special. Think about gifting too: mini Jo Malone candles, Neom bath salts, or silk scrunchies as hen party favours. It is a really lovely way to celebrate without anyone feeling overwhelmed.
9. Afternoon Tea
You really can't go wrong with an afternoon tea. It works for any group size and it always feels special. It's great for bringing groups together, as the cakes and desserts always make a central talking point. It also feels a bit more inclusive if anyone is pregnant or a non-drinker too, allowing people to sip tea or upgrade to a glass of something fizzy!
10. Black Tie Glamour Night
Everyone dresses to the absolute nines: cocktail dresses, heels, the works. Head to the best bar or restaurant in town, get a professional photographer for a group shot, why not go all out and hire a limo too! There is something about a group of women all dressed up together that just makes a night out feel like a proper event. It does not need to be complicated, just glamorous.
11. Garden Party
If someone has a gorgeous garden or you're staying over in a lovely cottage or air b and b, a garden hen party is stunning from May to September. Croquet on the lawn, Pimm's jugs, floral midi dresses, and lawn games. Add a flower crown making station and it just looks amazing in photos. Pair it with a dance class earlier in the day and you have got the full package sorted.
Chilled and Cosy Hen Night Themes
Not every hen night needs to be a big production. Sometimes the most memorable ones are the simplest, just quality time with the people who matter most. Don't underestimate a cosy night in!
12. Pyjama Party
Matching pyjamas, face masks, a film marathon, and frankly an irresponsible amount of snacks. Host it at an Airbnb or someone's house and add personalised touches like monogrammed PJs from Etsy, a how-well-do-you-know-the-bride quiz, and a custom Spotify playlist. This is honestly the theme a lot of brides actually want but are too polite to ask for!

13. Wine and Cheese Night
This is a really easy way to upgrade a classic girls' night. Hire a sommelier (more affordable than you think, around £30-£50pp) or just set up your own boards with pairing notes from Vivino or Wine Folly. Add a blind tasting competition and charcuterie grazing boards from M&S or a local deli. Everyone loves it and it feels really special. Â
Something me and my friends do which works really well is choosing a theme for the wine tasting. We've done wines with animals on the bottles, pink fizz, and at Christmas we did 12 Days of Christmas which was quite the challenge! It gets everyone involved before the event and makes picking the wine quite fun - share the picture of the bottle to the group chat. On the night, wrap each bottle in foil so you don't know whose is whose, give each one a number, and pick a winner. Also for bigger groups you might need to buy 2 bottles of each, so everyone can try it. Â
14. Movie Marathon Night
Pick the bride's favourite genre and build the evening around it. Romcoms? Queue up Bridesmaids, Mamma Mia, and 27 Dresses. Add themed cocktails (a Pink Cosmo for the Sex and the City fan), movie bingo cards, and a projector for that cinema feel. If you have got outdoor space, hiring a hot tub takes this to the next level.
15. Craft and Create
Pottery painting, candle making, wreath workshops, or flower arranging at a local florist. Everyone gets something physical to take home which is really lovely. You can book a studio or hire an instructor to come to you. Pair it with afternoon tea or cocktails and you have got a full afternoon sorted.
Luxury Hen Party Themes
If the budget allows or the group is happy to chip in, these are the ones that feel really special. Worth every penny.
16. Yacht or Boat Party
Hire a boat for the afternoon: river cruises on the Thames, canal boats in Birmingham, or yacht charters in Southampton. Add champagne, a playlist, and a dress code of all white with the bride in something sparkly. It is instantly glamorous and the photos look like the Amalfi Coast! This is one of those hen party themes that just looks incredible.
17. Country House Retreat
Rent a manor house or country estate for the weekend from Celebration Cottages or Sykes Cottages. Fill it with decorations, plan activities across the days (a dance class Saturday morning, wine tasting Saturday evening), and let the setting do the heavy lifting. Even just sitting round in pyjamas with coffee feels special in a place like that. We started Sashay Dance 10 years ago and back then hen parties were always in the city centres, now around 50% of our bookings for dance classes are at hen houses.
18. Fine Dining Experience
For the foodie bride, skip the chain restaurant and go somewhere extraordinary. A tasting menu at a Michelin-starred restaurant like The Clove Club, Mana, or Adam Reid at The French turns dinner into the main event. Dress up, take your time, enjoy every course. Follow it with cocktails at a rooftop bar and you have got a really special evening.
Unique Hen Party Theme Ideas
These are for the bride who wants something a bit different. The kind of hen party themes that make people in the group chat say 'wait, that is actually a really good idea!'
19. Decades Party
Pick the bride's favourite era and just go all in. A 70s disco hen means flares, platforms, and ABBA on repeat. An 80s neon night means scrunchies and leg warmers. A 90s Spice Girls theme means everyone picks a Spice Girl and owns it. The fancy dress makes this one of the most fun hen do themes going, and the group photos are always absolutely brilliant.
Love the ABBA angle? Have a look at our dedicated ABBA themed hen party for the full breakdown.
20. Around the World
This is such a fun one. Each part of the day represents a different country: French patisserie breakfast at Paul or a local bakery, Italian pasta making class for lunch, Indian-inspired cocktail hour, Mexican themed dinner at Wahaca or a local taqueria. You could also just pick the countries on the bride's travel bucket list and build the itinerary around those. Really easy to personalise.
21. Murder Mystery
Everyone gets a character, dresses up, and spends the evening solving clues and accusing each other of fictional crimes. You can book a professional experience or buy a kit from Red Herring Games who do hen-specific storylines. It gets everyone talking, especially the quiet ones, and it is just really good fun.
22. Emily in Paris
Berets, Breton stripes, croissants, rose, and absolutely everything pink. This theme was made for Instagram! Find a French-style cafe, add macarons from Laduree or a local patisserie, set up a cheese board, and give everyone a Parisian outfit brief. Bonus points for a group photo outside somewhere that looks vaguely continental. So easy to pull together and it looks gorgeous.
23. Disney Themed Hen Party
Pick the bride's favourite Disney film and build the day around it. A Tangled theme with lanterns and purple decor. A Little Mermaid beach day. An Enchanted princess brunch. Disney themes work really well for craft activities (tiara making, anyone?) and the fancy dress options are endless. It is suitable for all ages too which is always a bonus.

24. Taylor Swift Era Party
Each guest comes dressed as a different Taylor Swift era: Lover pink, Reputation black, Folklore cardigans, Midnights sparkle. Build a playlist that goes through the albums chronologically, add friendship bracelet making (obviously!) and a Taylor trivia quiz. For the ultimate version, start with a Taylor Swift dance class where the group learns choreography to one of her hits. The Swifties in your group will absolutely love this.

25. Bridgerton Regency Hen Party
A Bridgerton hen party is such a gorgeous theme and it has really taken off. Think empire-line dresses, elbow-length gloves, tiaras, string quartet playlists on Spotify, and afternoon tea served on vintage china. It gives the whole group an excuse to dress like they are attending a ball at the Featherington estate, and the photos are absolutely stunning.
The best way to do it? Start with a Bridgerton-inspired dance class where the group learns Regency-style choreography or a routine to one of the orchestral pop covers from the show's soundtrack. Add a promenade through a local park or stately home garden, then finish with a champagne afternoon tea. Lady Whistledown would definitely approve!
We run Bridgerton themed hen party dance classes that bring the ballroom to life. See availability and book your Bridgerton experience here.
26. Pitbull / Mr Worldwide Party
If you have been anywhere near TikTok or Instagram Reels recently, you will have seen the Pitbull hen party trend and honestly it is absolutely brilliant. The whole group dresses in matching suits, slicked-back hair, and sunglasses channelling Mr Worldwide himself. The dance moves are easy, the energy is ridiculous, and the content is guaranteed to go viral in the group chat!
This works so well when paired with a dance class learning the choreography to Timber, Give Me Everything, or Hotel Room Service. Follow it up with cocktails and a Miami-themed dinner and you have got yourself one of the most talked-about hen do themes of 2026. The fancy dress alone shows how much this theme has taken off, everyone absolutely loves it.
Hen Party Colour Themes
A colour theme is honestly the simplest way to pull everything together. Just pick one colour, apply it to outfits, decorations, drinks, and accessories, and you are done. These are some of the most popular hen party themes because they give you instant visual impact with barely any planning.
27. Pretty in Pink
The classic hen party colour and it never gets old! Everyone wears pink, bride in white. Decorations pink, prosecco with pink gin, everything coordinated. Simple, instantly photogenic, and it works with any activity or venue.
28. All White Everything
This is so chic. Everyone in white gives that clean, gorgeous look and it photographs beautifully. Perfect for boat parties, garden parties, or a Diner en Blanc inspired evening. The bride stands out with a veil, sparkly accessories, or a coloured sash.
29. Barbie Pink
Hot pink everything, maximum Barbiecore energy! Neon outfits, fuchsia decorations, and a photo booth with Barbie props. If the group loved the Greta Gerwig Barbie film, this is your excuse to go all in.
30. Lavender and Lilac
For something softer and more romantic, lavender is just lovely. It pairs beautifully with spa days, afternoon tea, or garden parties. Dried lavender bunches, lilac prosecco from M&S, and delicate purple details throughout. Really dreamy.
Hen Party Fancy Dress Themes
The outfit is half the fun! These hen do dress up ideas give everyone a clear brief, guarantee brilliant photos, and honestly they just make the whole day more fun.
31. Matching Band T-Shirts
Get custom t-shirts printed with a band-style tour poster. The bride's name as the headline act, the wedding date as the tour date, the hen party location as the venue. Everyone wears them with jeans and you are good to go. Print from somewhere like Printful, Vistaprint, or a local screen printer. Personalised, fun, and it makes the group instantly recognisable.
32. Letter Dress Code
Everyone wears an outfit starting with the first letter of the bride's name. Bride called Sarah? Sailor, Superhero, or just something Sparkly! It gives everyone creative freedom whilst keeping the group loosely coordinated, and the variety is always hilarious.
33. Iconic Duos and Characters
Each guest dresses as an iconic character or duo: Thelma and Louise, Sandy and Danny from Grease, Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie from The Simple Life. The bride picks her character and everyone else fills in the cast. Such a fun one for photos!
Hen Party Ideas for Small Groups
Planning for under 10 people? Don't worry, some of the best hen dos we have seen have been smaller groups. These themes work beautifully with fewer guests and often end up being even more memorable.
34. Private Dining
Book a private dining room at somewhere special. With a small group you can afford somewhere really extraordinary: Clos Maggiore in London, The Art School in Liverpool, or wherever is the best-kept secret in your bride's city. Prix fixe menu, wine pairing, beautifully set table. It does not get much better than that.
35. Luxury Picnic
Hire a luxury picnic company to set up a gorgeous spread in a park, beach, or garden. Companies like The Picnic Society or Bubble and Squeak set up rugs, cushions, grazing boards, prosecco, and flowers. For a small group this feels really intimate and special, and it is perfect for a summer afternoon.

How to Choose the Right Theme for Your Hen Do
With 35 hen party themes to choose from, here is how we would narrow it down. We have helped plan over 2,150 of these so here is what we always tell people!
Start with the bride, not Pinterest. What does she actually enjoy doing on a free Saturday? If she is outdoorsy, a spa day probably is not it. If she does not drink, a wine tasting is going to be awkward. The best theme just feels like her.
Think about your group. 30 people need something different to 8 people. Active themes like dance classes and sports days work brilliantly for medium-bigger groups. Intimate themes like private dining and luxury picnics are lovely for smaller ones.
Be upfront about budget. A country house weekend sounds amazing, but not if half the group cannot comfortably afford it. Some of the most memorable hens we have seen cost barely anything, so don't worry if the budget is tight!
Think about the photos. The bride will want photos she is proud of. Themes with a clear visual identity, whether that is a colour dress code, matching outfits, or a gorgeous venue, always photograph better.
And if you are still stuck? A dance class works with almost every theme on this list. It can be the main event or the warm-up. It works for groups of 8 or groups of 40. It is genuinely the one activity we have never seen fall flat!
